About this Opportunity
Volunteer in the Urban Demonstration Garden at the CAFB! Join us and get your hands dirty and help maintain our half-acre urban garden, which includes a mix of raised beds, in-ground beds, container gardens and our outdoor teaching kitchen! The garden helps us teach our partners and community members how to grow nutritious food, and how to enjoy and utilize these foods! All produce is shared with our community through distribution and educational events. CAFB relies on volunteers to make our garden grow and to share the benefits of growing fresh produce- thank you!
Please note that many of the garden tasks entail physical movement and/or labor and that we work in most types of weather, but we invite you to work at your own pace, and to only do what you are able to and what you are comfortable with! We encourage and welcome breaks, too. 😊 Please bring water so you can stay hydrated (you can also refill inside the building). Please bring gloves if possible, otherwise we will provide them. Please wear close-toed shoes and dress comfortably for working outside.
Volunteer tasks might include weeding, mulching, bed repair, irrigation set up, harvesting, and other seasonal and maintenance tasks. We also have garden workshops and events open to the community that we would love to have you at!
