Brief Organizational Description:
Located at the Hopewell Library, we are a used bookstore that stocks a selection of fiction, classics, nonfiction, juvenile, and children's books at very reasonable prices. You can search our shelves for your favorite author or just browse by subject. Each trip to our store is always a treasure hunt, and you can be assured that every purchase goes to support the Appomattox Regional Library System.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
The Readers' Friend Bookstore is looking for a reliable, hardworking volunteer to help with the day-to-day operations of the bookstore which is a significant source of revenue for the Hopewell-Prince George Friends of the Library. The Friends of the Library, then, invest the funds back into the library system by funding special programs, materials, and equipment that the library system needs.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
The bookstore is looking for someone who can:
Open and close the store
Conduct transactions using a cash register and credit card point of sale machine (Square)
Scan and pack boxes of books for resale to online book retailers using a barcode scanner
Shelve books by genre and author
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Basic Mathematics
Heavy Lifting (In Excess of 25 IBs)
Basic Computer Skills
Training Provided
Time Commitment:
We are currently looking for someone to cover the Saturday shift which lasts from 10:15am to 2:30pm.
