About this Opportunity
The City of Fort Lauderdale Beach Sweep team needs your help to maintain our pristine beaches and will welcome you every second Saturday of the month at the HUB, 300 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd, aka. the intersection where Las Olas Blvd meets the beach. Each year thousands of beach lovers collect over 80,000 cigarette butts, thousands of plastic straws, and several tons of trash. Our volunteers typically collect 100 pounds of trash, 25 pounds of recyclables and 10,000 cigarette butts.
Please participate responsibly, especially if you have allergies or special needs.
- Proper attire is a t-shirt and pants - things you do not mind getting dirty! Also do not forget your mask and any other PPE you might want to use.
- Due to the outdoor activity, it is recommended all volunteers wear a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent, plus bring their own water and snacks. Stay hydrated!
- All tools will be provided; but if you feel more comfortable with your own gloves and protective equipment, please bring them.
