Volunteer - Photographer / Videographer (WorldPride DC 2025)

  The Capital Pride Alliance is excited to announce an opportunity for passionate and qualified volunteer photographers and videographers to support the upcoming WorldPride DC 2025 celebration in Washington, DC. This historic event will bring together the global LGBTQ+ community for a vibrant showcase of unity, diversity, and Pride. 

  We are seeking talented individuals with a keen eye for capturing the essence of large-scale events, including Parades, Festivals, etc. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a skilled enthusiast, this is your chance to volunteer your expertise for one of the most anticipated Pride events in the world. 

  Volunteers will play a critical role in documenting the festivities, helping us share the stories of WorldPride DC 2025. If you are passionate about visual storytelling and want to be part of this momentous occasion, we encourage you to apply! A valid photography or videography portfolio is required to express interest in this volunteer opportunity. 

Key Duties, Skill Levels and Responsibilities 

1. Event Coverage

• Capture high-quality images and videos of all major WorldPride DC 2025 events, including parades, performances, speeches, and community activities. 
• Ensure a diverse representation of attendees, performances, and cultural expressions that highlight the spirit and inclusivity of WorldPride DC 2025.

2. Pre-Event Shoots 

• Document the behind-the-scenes preparations, including setup, rehearsals, and promotional events leading up to WorldPride DC 2025. 

3. Portrait Photography/Videography 

• Capture impactful portraits of key organizers, speakers, performers, and attendees, showcasing the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community. 

4. Real-Time Content Creation 

• Deliver select photos and video clips in real-time to Capital Pride's media team for possible live social media updates, ensuring immediate coverage of important moments. 

5. Photography/Videography Expertise 

• Advanced proficiency in operating professional-grade cameras, lenses, lighting, and audio equipment (for videographers). 

• In-depth knowledge of composition, framing, lighting techniques, and camera settings for capturing high-quality images and footage in diverse environments. 

6. Post-Production Skills 

• Intermediate to Advanced experience with photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere). 

• Ability to color-correct, retouch, and enhance visuals to maintain a professional standard that aligns with Capital Pride’s branding. 

7. Crowd Interaction 

• Engage positively with event participants, ensuring they feel comfortable being photographed or filmed and are informed about how their images might be used. 

8. Time Management 

• Manage your time effectively to ensure coverage of multiple events and locations, often working in fast-paced, high-energy environments.

• Ensure proper submission of photos/video within 72 hours after the completion of the assigned event. 

9. Equipment Management 

• Bring and manage your own professional-grade photography and videography equipment, ensuring that you are fully equipped for all types of lighting and weather conditions. 

• Intermediate troubleshooting skills to quickly resolve equipment malfunctions, lighting issues, or environmental challenges on the spot. 

10. Compliance with Event Protocols 

• Follow event guidelines regarding safety, crowd management, and consent for photographing or filming attendees. Ensure compliance with any privacy or security protocols.
