About this Opportunity

The Mental Health Association of Hong Kong has been operating the " Integrated Community Centres for Mental Wellness" in the Kwun Tong and Tai Po districts since October 2010. The centre provides district-based, one-stop services for individuals in need, including mental health recovery patients (hereafter referred to as recovery patients), those suspected to have mental health issues or experiencing emotional distress, their family members/caregivers, and residents living in the district. These services range from prevention to crisis management and include community support, rehabilitation services, and local education initiatives.

Program Objectives:

  • Alleviate the stress faced by family members caring for recovery patients.
  • Enhance the resilience of both family members and recovery patients.
  • Encourage family members to explore different stress-reduction methods and increase their awareness of community resources to better care for themselves.
  • Improve relationships between participants and their family members through various activities.
  •
Event on May 17th, 2025: "Acupressure for Better Health" Health Workshop - Hand and Body Acupressure Massage

Event Purpose: Increase participation and sense of capability among family members caring for mental health recovery patients while focusing on their personal physical and mental health needs.
The head is considered "the leader of all yang," so having family members and their relatives rediscover the benefits of head massage can help improve blood circulation, increase nutrient supply to brain cells, delay aging, alleviate insomnia caused by caregiving stress, and reduce hair loss.

    Volunteer Roles:
Volunteers will join family members of mental health recovery patients in attending this health workshop. During the process, they will engage in conversations to understand the daily lives and challenges of these family members, fostering mutual understanding and promoting connections among family members.

All volunteers who attend this activity must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. If you wish to have a friend or family member join you on this activity, they must first register with HandsOn and sign up for the activity.
