About this Opportunity
Senior Food Program Distribution Volunteer Site Manager needed at various locations in Contra Costa and Solano Counties.
The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is looking for Volunteer Site Managers to support our Senior Food Program. Food Bank Volunteer Site Managers open the distribution site, ensure accuracy of food delivery, manage a team of 5-15 volunteers, and act as a representative of the Food Bank to our neighbors in need. They also complete paperwork on volunteer attendance and food products. Current volunteers are encouraged to apply. Are you interested in using your organizational and team management skills to support the work of your local Food Bank? We are looking for volunteers who can make a 2.5 to 3-hour commitment twice a month on an ongoing basis.

Volunteer Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Open the distribution site
- Ensure the accuracy of food delivery
- Manage a team of volunteers
- Interact with the neighbors in need (seniors)
- Complete and submit monthly paperwork (scanning and emailing)
- Perform light email and phone communications with the Food Bank Senior Food Program Coordinator and staff
- Interest in the mission of the Food Bank, volunteer management, and seniors
- Basic administrative and email skills. Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with managing a team and customer service
- Ability to stand for 4 hours at a time and to work independently to manage volunteers
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. alone or 50 lbs. with the assistance of a lifting partner
- Comfortable with respectfully enforcing Food Bank policies and procedures
- Flexible and reliable
- Ability to use an email account to communicate with the Food Bank's Senior Food Program staff
- Ability to make a minimum 1 year commitment. Interest in a long-term commitment preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience working with seniors is a plus.
- Senior Food Program Volunteer Site Managers must comply with the Food Bank's Volunteer Waiver, Policies, Safety Rules
- Please note that due to the Food Bank's work with vulnerable populations, Court-Ordered Community Service Volunteers are restricted from signing up for Senior Food Program distribution volunteer opportunities.
