About this Opportunity
For over a century, Catholic Charities Boston has served vulnerable individuals and families of all faiths and backgrounds. One of the most comprehensive non-profit providers of social services in Massachusetts, we offer over 70 programs across more than 20 locations throughout Greater Boston, with 450 employees serving thousands of individuals and families annually within the four core areas of Basic Needs, Family & Youth Services, Refugee & Immigrant Services, and Adult Education & Workforce Development. Rooted in our faith mission, we address critical social justice issues with compassion and aim to break the cycles of poverty in our communities by providing life’s necessities, education, and advocacy to move families toward self-sufficiency.
Volunteers are crucial for us to be able to address the rising food insecurity in the community. As a volunteer at Catholic Charities’ Lynn Food Pantry, your role will include restocking pantry shelves, helping with product selection, preparing bags for distribution, client intake, some light cleaning, and helping lift and transport light to moderately-heavy items. Volunteers will typically be on their feet, and the role does tend to involved bending and lifting (up to 40 lbs).
Given our client base, volunteers who have language skills in Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Khmer, and Spanish are highly desired (but not required)!
Please note: Catholic Charities Boston asks that all volunteers create an account at https://volunteer.ccab.org/. Please click “sign up” at the top and create an individual volunteer account. We also ask that you bring a completed CORI form and a picture ID with you to your first volunteer shift.
MBTA Accessibility: Half a mile from the Lowell Commuter Rail Stop. It is about a 12-minute walk or a 7-9-minute bus ride. Free parking is also available on Lawrence Street.
At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
