About this Opportunity

We are looking for someone with archival skills to help us manage our decades of archival materials we've collected - both our Chief Counsel, Daniel Sheehan Esq. key legal cases (Iran Contra and Karen Silkwood specifically) as well as other donated and organizational historical papers that need digitizing.

The Romero Institute (formerly known as the Christic Institute) is an interfaith, nonprofit law and public policy center. It continues its work where the Institute prosecuted and amplified some of the most celebrated public interest cases of our time, including the Iran-Contra Affair, Three Mile Island, and the American Sanctuary Movement.

We focus in California (our Let’s Green California program) and the Dakotas (the Lakota People’s Law Project) on local and statewide solutions to confront the global climate crisis. We just recently launched our New Paradigm Institute program, to effectively advocate for UAP disclosure and prepare humanity for a post-confirmed-contact world, we focus our work on several key areas, in late 2023. In partnership with frontline communities, allied organizations, and members of the public, we oppose pipelines and other toxic infrastructure, we amplify underrepresented voices, and we seek legal and policy remedies to help protect people and the planet.

Ideally we'd appreciate someone with most of these skills - this person will work in conjunction with the Executive Asisstant/Office Manager as well as a team of volunteers/interns.

  • Assessing asset collection systems and processes to identify and recommend improvements based on the changing needs of the Institute.
  • Overseeing processes related to the collection, appraisal, arrangement, and description of analog and digital assets.

  • Managing, monitoring, and auditing systems and processes to ensure accurate collection of incoming archival materials.
  • Reinforcing asset standards for file formats, usage restrictions, crediting, tagging, and metadata.

  • Overseeing the maintenance and growth of the Archives and Collection database to track the Institute's history and analog collections.
  • Collaborating with the Volunteer Coordinator/Offie Manager and Digital Director to monitor, maintain, and assess storage needs, access, and the backup of systems, databases, and collections.
