Volunteers will play an important role in helping educate students, create energy around the event, and support the registry sign-up process. There are three volunteer roles available:
Recruitment Roles:
1. Registration Team
Engage students in meaningful conversations, guide them through joining the registry with a simple cheek swab, and ensure they complete their registration profile accurately. This role is perfect for volunteers who are detail-oriented, welcoming, and comfortable walking participants through the sign-up process.
2. Educational Team
Help students understand the stem cell donation process by answering questions, addressing concerns, and providing clear, accurate information. Your role is to empower participants to make an informed decision while helping them understand the impact they could have in saving someone’s life.
3. Hype Team
Bring the energy and excitement to the event! Approach students, share quick and impactful information about the importance of joining the registry, and encourage them to stop by our table. This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy engaging with people and creating enthusiasm.
Quick Elevator Pitch:
"Hi, do you want to fight cancer with us?
We’re helping people with blood cancer find a stem cell donor. Right now, patients across the country are searching for a lifesaving match, and you could be the one to help.
Joining the registry is easy—it only takes about five minutes and a simple cheek swab. If you are ever matched with a patient, about 90% of donations are similar to donating plasma, while only about 10% involve bone marrow donation.
If travel is needed, all expenses are fully covered. Today, taking just a few minutes to join the registry could one day save someone’s life. No pressure at all—I’d be happy to answer any questions if you’re interested."
Attire:
Please wear school-appropriate or campus-branded clothing and comfortable shoes, as volunteers will be standing and engaging with students throughout the event.
Thank you for helping us make an impact at Beloit Memorial High School. Your time and energy help us move one step closer to finding cures and giving hope to patients in need.
