Become a volunteer tutor for children experiencing homelessness!

Young people are uplifted by education - you can be part of changing a student's life trajectory. As a School on Wheels volunteer tutor, you will work one-on-one with an student experiencing homelessness who needs mentorship and academic support. You can specify to work one-on-one with an elementary, middle, or high school student in person or meet your student virtually! School on Wheels provides ongoing support and customized curriculum so you never feel like you are on your own.

Volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of 1 hour a week for up to a year. Tutoring usually happens on weekdays between 3pm-7pm and can be online or in-person at local shelters, libraries and other public places. Training is provided. Hours vary depending on the student. Volunteers work with the student and School on Wheels to find a time that is mutually beneficial for the student and tutor.
