About this Opportunity
We are growing our mission to end hunger by expanding beyond food, offering resource navigation, SNAP assistance, connections to on-site partners, and more through our Neighborhood. As a NS Empowerment Volunteer, you get the opportunity to build one-on-one connections with neighbors while gaining valuable experience if you’re interested in a future career in social services or public health.
Key Responsibilities
Empowerment Volunteers support Neighbor Services by connecting neighbors to on-site resources, SNAP assistance, and food navigation within the Neighborhood. Volunteers will utilize the Neighbor Services documentation and appointment system to ensure accurate records. They may also assist with neighbor follow ups, special events and additional documentation support as needed.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Background in Social Services, Public Health, Customer Service are a plus! Without prior field experience a NS Empowerment Volunteer screening must be completed prior to this role. Volunteers must be comfortable using technology systems for our data reporting and be comfortable talking to people about difficult life events.
Commitment/Scheduling
Due to the training commitment for this volunteer role, we ask that volunteers commit 60 hours per quarter. We ask the volunteers to commit to annual days/set hours each week for consistency in service. We can coordinate shift times around volunteer’s schedules.
Training
Anyone signing up for these shifts should have already completed a skills-based volunteer application, been screened via phonecall by the Neighbor Services team, and undergone training.
