About this Opportunity
Brief Organizational Description:
Henrico Humane Society is a foster-based, non-profit organization that rescues dogs and cats from across Central Virginia and places them in loving, forever homes.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Do you love animals? Henrico Humane Society is looking for passionate people who want to make a difference. Since we don't have a shelter, our dogs and cats live in foster homes. The more foster volunteers we have, the more animals we can rescue from shelters so you have the ability to help us save lives! What could be more rewarding?
High school students can earn 1 community service hour per day through our Foster Fur Credit program!
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Providing love and care to a puppy, dog, kitten or cat.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No prior pet ownership experience required. A mentor is assigned to all new fosters to provide training and support.
Time Commitment:
Hugs only take a few minutes throughout the day. Fostering a dog may require going for walks multiple times per week, or daily if you don't have a fenced in yard (it's a great way to get your steps in!).
Other Information (if applicable):
- Food, crate and other supplies provided by Henrico Humane Society.
- Volunteers are asked to bring their foster to adoption events at least twice per month.
