About this Opportunity

Provide a personal shopping experience in the curbside food pantry truck. This service experience is fast paced, high energy, with various roles, and will require volunteers to work outdoors. Participating in setup and cleanup is required. Help combat food insecurity in Cook County while also developing bonds and building community. High mobility and ability to lift 25lbs is required.

REQUIREMENTS TO SERVE:

ONSITE SERVICE ROLES AVAILABLE: Roles Service Description Level of Engagement Host  
 

  The host is the first point of contact with guests. The host's main role is to provide a warm welcome to all guests and manage the outside table distribution. The host is expected to have a high level of verbal engagement and help assist with any questions. Friendly, outgoing, and high energy individuals are desired.  High Intake Facilitator The Intake volunteer records client information as the first step in the mobile food pantry experience. They are also responsible for introducing the mobile pantry process to new guests. The intake volunteer must be able to navigate online systems and keep client information confidential. This role requires a high level of verbal engagement and help assist with any questions. High Personal Shopper Personal Shoppers assist clients one-on-one guiding them through the shelves and giving them selection options. Personal Shoppers must handle all grocery items. A high level of mobility and verbal engagement is required.  High Bagger/Carrying Assistant Grocery baggers assist clients in transferring grocery items from carts to bags to client cars. A high level of mobility and the ability to lift 25lbs is required   High  
 

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE:

Free parking for volunteers is available depending on location. Volunteers will arrive to meet the Food Pantry Truck at the scheduled location.
Volunteers should be prepared to serve outdoors.

AGE RESTRICTIONS:

The minimum age is 18 years old.
