DIY Baby Needs Kit for the Caring Closet

The Caring Closet ("CC") provides FREE high quality clothing and necessities to local chilldren and their families who are experiencing challenging circumstances.   Infant and Baby Care Bags contain NEW items and are one of the ways the CC supports families with little ones.   The Infant and Baby Care Bags are an encouragement and a help to struggling parents. 

The CC is looking for volunteers to shop for these infant and baby care items.  A shopping list will be provided.  The completed bags will be distributed along with bags of clothing to families in domestic violence shelters, temporary housing programs and to foster-related agencies in the Richmond area.  The bags contain age appropriate baby items such as blankets, bottles, wipes other age appropriate items needed for little ones. The items you shop for will be placed in drawstring backpacks that the Caring Closet will provide. These bags also serve as a baby bag for mom or dad. Volunteers are asked to create encouraging cards for the child's parent. 

We estimate the cost of each care bag kit to be around $15-$20.  This project provides 3 volunteer hours per person NOT per kit. Please contact me for information on volunteer hours if you are interested in making mulitple kits.  Please ask about other volunteer projects if you are in need of additional service hours.
