LEND A HAND: Provide Support to Transitional Families

Make a difference in the lives of women and children experiencing housing instability.

Why: In our 22 years of service, almost 200 families and single women have established financial security and moved into permanent housing. After Alexandria House, families become stable and secure permanent housing, they continue to be involved in economic and social services. We provide assistance for ongoing support to help them thrive and remain in their own homes. More than 92% of the families that have gone through the Alexandria House program remain in permanent housing.

Who: Alexandria House is a transitional residence and house of hospitality providing safe and supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelter to economic stability and permanent housing. Located in the densely populated and ethnically diverse Mid-Wilshire area, Alexandria House also serves its broader neighborhood community by providing educational and enrichment opportunities for the residents and neighbors alike.

What to Expect: You will support the staff at Alexandria House in maintaining a safe and positive atmosphere for the woman and children living there. You'll help with gardening, organizing the garage, cleaning the kitchen, sorting food and clothing, and preparing activities for neighborhood events.

• 3 hour time commitment
