Grocery Donation Pick-Up

The Doorways is looking for Grocery Donation Pick-Up Volunteers to help us coordinate much needed food pick-ups with our grocery store partners. This position will work under the supervision of the Volunteer Manager and is responsible for helping to pick-up, inventory, and store food donations received from our partners.

This is a regular, ongoing commitment. Volunteers must be able to commit to a weekly pickup schedule, between 1-2 hours a week. See schedule below for details. All volunteering must be confirmed with Doorways staff before starting. Indicating interest on this form does not ensure you can volunteer on your chosen date.

This position requires a valid drivers license, a driving record check and criminal background check(provided by The Doorways). The Doorways has a van that can be used for this role with proper clearance and training or your personal vehical can be used if a larger SUV, truck or minivan. Must be 18 years or older to volunteer in this position. Youth under 18 cannot drive, but those 13 and older can volunteer and assist with a parent or guardian present at all times. 

No prior experience needed. On site training will be provided. Must be able to bend, lift, stoop, stand and lift 35lbs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pick-up food donations from various local partners
• Document weight and temperatures of donated food
• Put food in walk-in fridge, freezer, and pantry
• Document fridge and freezer temperatures after each delivery
• Clean and organize walk-in fridge, freezer, and pantry
• Maintain clean tubs for food transportation
