About this Opportunity
The YWCA invites individuals to support its mission by participating in a clothing swap at The New Start Store, transitioning from winter apparel to spring items. Volunteer opportunities are available during the following dates and times:
- Thursday, March 27, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM
- Friday, March 28, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM
- Monday, March 31, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Volunteer duties will include:
- Sorting and organizing donated items.
- Displaying seasonal items that are in good condition in The New Start Store for distribution.
- Storing items that are in acceptable condition but out of season on the landing for future use or packaging them for donation to the AFL-CIO clothing closet or other organizations that distribute used clothing.
- Disposing of items deemed unsuitable as directed.
In addition, volunteers are expected to:
- Assist service participants with their selection of items and collect Y-Bucks as a form of payment.
- Treat all service recipients with the utmost respect and kindness.
- Ensure the security of both the store and the landing by confirming that these areas are secured prior to departing.
- Communicate with the Volunteer Coordinator regarding any shortages of essential items, requests for specific items, or the necessity to temporarily suspend donation acceptance due to excess inventory.
- Report any issues, needs, or concerns to either the Volunteer Coordinator Assistant or the Volunteer Coordinator.
Volunteers must provide inclusive services that do not discriminate based on ethnicity, color, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital or partner status, age, disability (including substance abuse), economic or educational status, religion, health status (including HIV/AIDS), mental health status, immigration status, or residency (including county, state, or country of origin).
Completion of required documentation in compliance with YWCA policies is essential. It is fundamental to ensure the confidentiality of victims, reflecting the trust placed in volunteers. Additionally, volunteers are required to complete and sign a timesheet for all hours contributed.
Volunteers may also be asked to undertake related duties as assigned. We acknowledge that your time is valuable and appreciate your willingness to adapt to additional tasks as necessary.
