About this Opportunity
Project Description
Please Join Food Bank For New York City’s Fundraising Operations team in a data entry and database hygiene project. By aiding our team in cataloging returned direct mail pieces, you’ll play a vital role in making sure that our messages and solicitations reach the right people at the right time. This helps Food Bank steward, develop, and maintain strong relationships with our valued donor community. We’ll spend time working on this project together with members of the development team, so this is a great opportunity to learn more about fundraising or about the work Food Bank does for folks with an interest in philanthropy! However, volunteers may choose to work quietly (or with headphones).
The project will include:
- Working within Excel spreadsheets to document returned mail donor/marketing contact’s name, address, and reason for return.
- Searching databases for updated mailing address information.
- Entering new data into the spreadsheet.
- Work will be done in an office setting on provided iPads. Notetaking supplies will also be provided, if needed.
Things to consider:
Dress Code:
- Volunteers are expected to present a neat appearance and dress according to the requirements of the volunteer shift. Please be prepared to work in an office setting.
- We ask that volunteers do not wear revealing attire such as muscle shirts, crop tops, “short shorts” or see-through clothing.
- Our staff reserves the right to turn away or reassign volunteers who are not dressed appropriately for their shift.
Age Requirements:
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to participate.
