Haven of Northern Virginia

Haven is a nonprofit, nonsectarian community organization of trained volunteers that offers emotional support to the bereaved, the seriously ill, the dying and to their families and friends. Haven also provides education to the community about the needs of those who are grieving.

Since September 1976 Haven volunteers have helped individuals work through their grief, offering comfort and support by sharing insights, resources and techniques that encourage recovery and healing.Haven provides individual grief support as well as workshops and programs for spousal loss, sibling loss, parent loss and suicide loss.Haven Volunteers undergo 30 hours of training, 5 hours a day, 3 days a week for two weeks. Volunteer will then be expected to help answer phones for 2.5 hours a day, one day per week. 

Also, occasional volunteer opportunities to help maintain inside and outside of the Haven House.
