About this Opportunity
We are looking for a Volunteer HR Consultant to ensure that WOPU adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and best practices. This role will help establish and maintain policies that create a safe, inclusive, and legally compliant environment for our volunteers, staff, and community.
Key Responsibilities
- Policy Development: Create, implement, and update HR policies and procedures that align with nonprofit standards and legal compliance.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure WOPU complies with local, state, and federal employment laws and nonprofit regulations.
- Volunteer Management: Oversee processes related to recruitment, onboarding, and training of volunteers, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Risk Management: Identify potential HR risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Training: Educate staff and volunteers on compliance-related topics, including diversity, inclusion, and workplace ethics.
- Records Management: Maintain secure and organized HR records to ensure accessibility and confidentiality.
- Audit Preparation: Assist in preparing for internal and external audits related to HR practices and compliance
Qualifications & Skills
- Passion for empowering minority women and alignment with WOPUs faith-based mission.
- Experience in HR, compliance, or nonprofit management.
- Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Certification in HR (e.g., SHRM, PHR) or legal background is a plus, but not required.
