Clothing Valet

You will be managing Streetside Closet. This is a 17ft U-Haul that has been converted into a walk-in closet. When a guest comes looking for clothes, you will help them find what they need. Between guests, you will be restocking the clothing truck.

VolunteerDescriptions and Responsibilities

Minimum age to volunteer on-site is 14 years old.For volunteers under 14, off-site projects are a great option! Visit the bottom of ourvolunteer pageto see what off-site opportunities we offer.

Please be sure to bring water for yourselfas your volunteer experience will be outside and we want to make sure all of our volunteers, guests and staff members stay healthy and hydrated.

Streetside Showers

Streetside Showers is a nonprofit organization thatprovides free mobile showers, hygiene kits, and clean undergarments to people experiencing homelessness in North Texas.

Streetside Showers' mission is to help restore human dignity to the homeless community.The organization's founder, Lance Olinski, was inspired to start Streetside Showers after seeing a homeless man washing out of a public restroom in McKinney, TX.

Streetside Showers parks temporary showers in strategic locations, including McKinney, Irving, and Plano.The organization also makes free showers available three to four times per week in the Dallas Metroplex.

In Mckinney an estimated 250-500 persons are experiencing homelessness.

In Collin County:

  • 19% are under 18 yrs old

  • 14% are over 55 yrs old

  • Youth Homelessness increased 18%

  • Family Homelessness increased 15%

According to the McKinney-Vento Act, living in a car, hotel, motel, camping ground, or any place outside or not meant for human habitation is considered homelessness.
