About this Opportunity
Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, Trinity Presbyterian Church of McKinney hosts a "plarn workshop". Plarn stands for plastic yarn. We're a mix of church members and community members and it's a lot of fun! Together, we socialize for a couple of hours while flattening bags, cutting strips and looping the strips together into a ball of plarn, which then gets crocheted into a sleeping mat. We are in need of more people who know how to crochet, and we will teach you how to work with the plarn. We're thrilled with any and all helpers who want to come and be part of the group and help with any of the above tasks! Please sign up to let us know you're coming. We meet every Tuesday morning from about 9:30am to 12pm, but you can always come later or leave earlier, as your schedule permits. The completed sleeping mats are distributed through Streetside Showers in McKinney to be given to the homeless, and we would love to be able to increase our output as the need for these mats also increases. Thank you for your interest!
