About this Opportunity
Overview:
As a Counselor Advocate Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in providing person-centered, trauma-informed support and assistance to survivors of domestic violence. Responsibilities may include: offering crisis intervention, peer counseling, and advocacy services, and co-facilitating support groups. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and engaging in ongoing training to enhance your expertise in addressing domestic violence and related topics.
Responsibilities:
Peer Counseling and Advocacy:
Conduct individual peer counseling sessions and advocate for the needs of both residential and non-residential program participants.
Facilitate Support Groups:
Co-facilitate psycho-educational and support groups to create a nurturing and informative environment for program participants.
On-Site Household Support:
Offer on-site household support to residents, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Complete any required data entry and/or paperwork accurately and promptly.
Volunteer Activity Tracking:
Maintain records of your volunteer activities and submit monthly data to track your contributions.
Ongoing Training and Education:
Commit to acquiring a minimum of 10 hours of ongoing training and education on topics related to domestic violence, victims' services, trauma-informed practices, evidence-based practices, community resources, and other approved relevant areas to stay informed and enhance your skills.
