Connect Families Through Literacy: Volunteer with Women's Storybook Project!

Womens StorybookProject of Texas connects children to their incarcerated mothers through thejoy of literature. The primary goal of WSP is to reduce the rate ofre-incarceration among

incarcerated mothersby strengthening the mother-child bond through literature. This literatureproject requires volunteers to travel to Texas female prisons to recordincarcerated mothers as they read stories to their children. The recordingsprovide a chance for children to hear their mothers voice while they are away.Connecting the children and mothers helps provide a reason for the mothers towork hard not to return to prison.

We are looking fordedicated volunteers to serve mothers in Downtown Houston and Dayton area. Avolunteer must be a female of 18 years and above.

Once trainedvolunteers are asked to sign up and volunteer at least twice a year.

Volunteeringwith the Women's Storybook Project offers a unique chance to empowerincarcerated mothers and nurture family bonds through the magic ofstorytelling.
