About this Opportunity
Volunteering as an Individual at Project C.U.R.E. Houston
About Us
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us at Project C.U.R.E. Houston. Project C.U.R.E. is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. We would be delighted to have you join us and share in our mission.
WHAT do volunteers do?
Our volunteers help with all aspects of our life-saving operation. Volunteers sort donated medical supplies, prepare shipments, help manage our warehouse, and even work with our hospital partners to procure supplies. We also have volunteers who drive out to make scheduled donation pick-ups, test and repair medical equipment at all levels of expertise, help with fundraising and outreach, plan events, and assist with administrative needs.
We do not require any experience or medical background and will teach you everything you need to know. With that said, we do love nurses and medical professionals! Engineers are also extremely valuable to us.
HOW do I register?
New volunteers must create a profile online prior to volunteering.
- Go to www.projectcure.org
- Select Volunteer then Find a Location then Houston and finally Volunteer as an Individual
- Alternatively, you may start here: https://projectcure.volunteerhub.com/lp/houston/
- Sign up for any available shift that suits your schedule.
You can then log in using your user id/password to sign up for future individual volunteer sessions.
*Volunteers under 18 will be prompted to print a release form for their parent/guardian to sign. They must bring the signed form when they come to the warehouse. This release expires at the end of each calendar year so an updated release may be needed.
HOURS: Our individual volunteer hours are:
- Tuesday through Saturday 9:30- noon and 1- 3:30pm.
- For your first shift, please arrive 15 minutes early as we will do a brief orientation.
Youll use your user id/password to register online for each volunteer session. You are welcome to sign up for as many shifts as you like. It is important to come on time and stay for the full shift. Please remember to cancel if your plans change.
WHERE is Project C.U.R.E. located?
Our address is 8303 Kempwood Drive Houston, Texas 77055. There is plenty of free parking.
HOW should I dress?
Please dress comfortably (jeans, sweats, shorts) with comfortable closed toes shoes. Please note the exterior warehouse space can be a bit cool in the winter and warm in the summer.
GROUPS: We would also love to see you come back with your school, corporate, civic, or faith based organization. To request a group session, please visit https://projectcure.volunteerhub.com/lp/houstongroups/ or reach out to [email protected].
KIDS: We welcome volunteers ages 15 and up, but if you are under 18, your parent/guardian must sign our liability release form and you must bring this form with you.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you. Again, thank you for your interest and willingness to help!
