Qualifications:

BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or Mathematics preferred.

Exceptional analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Role Summary:

Your responsibility as a database administrator (DBA) will be the performance, integrity and security of a database. You'll be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

This is an unpaid volunteer position.

Essential Tasks:

  • Monitoring and maintaining databases.
  • Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
  • Performing requested changes, updates and modifications to database structure and data.
  • Adding or modifying system/user permissions to databases or database servers
  • Generating various reports by querying from the database as needed.
  • Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database.

Skills:

  • Proven expertise in query optimizing and dramatically improving database performance
  • Must have strong knowledge of PL/SQL and writing of SQL and PL/SQL Code .
  • Good knowledge of backup and recovery methods
  • Demonstrated ability of managing and tuning Stored Procedures and Functions.
  • Strong communications and teamwork skills to implement database best practices
