About this Opportunity

Job Title: Information & Planning Volunteer

Location: Southwestern Pennsylvania
Reports To: Information & Planning Team Leader, DCS Southwestern PA
Job Type: Part-time (Volunteer)
Time Commitment: Weekdays between 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m.; field work may be needed during the first 72 hours of a disaster

Purpose:

Help gather and organize disaster-related data to support planning and decision-making during disaster response and recovery. Your work helps ensure effective service delivery and supports reporting to donors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze disaster data (damage, needs, response effectiveness)
  • Support planning activities and help create response strategies
  • Use Red Cross technology platforms (e.g., RC View, DSARS) to manage information
  • Assist with sharing updates and reports with teams and partners
  • Provide planning support during both routine operations and disaster events

Qualifications:

  • Able to follow instructions and work independently
  • Comfortable with change and ambiguity
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Respectful of diversity and inclusion
  • Willing to work toward a service associate role in Mass Care
  • Basic computer and data entry skills preferred

Training Provided:

  • Disaster Cycle Services: An Overview
  • Data Collection (Form 5266)
  • RC View for Viewers (when available)

Commitment:

  • Minimum 3-month term preferred
  • Can remain active as long as training is kept up to date
