Position Overview:
We are seeking dedicated volunteers to teach essential technology skills to older adults, empowering them to confidently navigate the digital world. This grant-funded role focuses on providing hands-on instruction in a supportive and engaging environment.
Responsibilities:
Teaching and Training:
- Instruct on using computers, tablets, and smartphones - from turning devices on to navigating applications.
- Guide participants in finding and opening files, performing online searches, and managing email accounts.
- Teach efficient keyboarding, social media management, and smartphone basics.
Support and Engagement:
- Offer individual assistance to address specific questions and concerns.
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of older adults.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or coursework in technology or education are a plus.
- Experience teaching or training adults, particularly older adults, is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Proficiency in using computers, tablets, and smartphones.
The volunteer must be willing to teach in various locations throughout Plymouth County for each 6-week cycle.
