About this Opportunity
United Ways Seasons of Caring connects individuals, groups,corporations and labor partners to meaningful volunteer work. Each season, wefocus on one area where volunteers can make a big impact.
The spring season is focused on ensuring students haveaccess to reading materials to build life-long literacy skills. In honor ofGlobal Volunteer Month, United Way and SOS Community Services are co-hosting avolunteer project to increase access to reading materials through literacykits.
Volunteers will assemble literacy kits for families in theParents as Teachers program. Each kit supports one child for months in reading,language and bonding activities with their families and caregivers.
These kits will be distributed through home visits and groupconnections, and include:
- 1 childrens book
- Parent tip sheet
- Simple literacy activity
- Crayons or markers
- PAT and SOS literacy resource sheet
