About this Opportunity

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) represents the best interests of an abused or neglected child in court. This is a National program, but Life Stories CASA Program serves all of Weld County Colorado. A CASA Volunteer provides a judge with a carefully researched background of the child to help the court make sound decisions about the child’s current circumstances. The CASA makes a recommendation on placement and services and continues on the case until the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. We have CASA Volunteers that work full time, some are stay at home parents, some are students, and some are retired. CASA Volunteers come from all sorts of backgrounds and have varied amounts of education and backgrounds. No child welfare experience required. They all have one thing in common, a desire to make a difference in the lives of children. They will have support of a staff member during the duration of their case. They need to be at least 21, complete background checks, complete an initial 35 hour training, and be able to make a commitment of 10-15 hours a month and 18 months on a case.
