About this Opportunity

UT Hospice is recruiting volunteers. We have opportunities in patient companionship, running errands for patients, doing light housekeeping or meal prep, and administrative tasks in our office or from your home. We also have specialized programs like Pet Peace of Mind where volunteers help with patients pets while on they are on service and with adoption when the patient passes, G.I.F.T. (Grace In Final Transition) volunteers sit vigil with patients who have no family or friends to be with them during their final hours or volunteers are there to provide a break for family and friends so that the patient isn't alone. Another programs is the Chart of Life we use with our dementia patients.

It involves making a poster about the patient's life using scrapbooking materials and pictures off the internet. We Honor Veterans is a program that helps our Veteran patients at the end of life. We honor our patients will a certificate and lapel pins to show our appreciation for their service. We pair Veterans with Veteran patients so that they have someone who understands the things they have been through and are going through. We educate our staff and the community about Veteran issues.

Our volunteers must pass a background check and drug screen, which is of no cost to the volunteer. We provide 12 hours of training of which most can be done from the comfort of your home on a computer.

If you have read anything you would like more information about or you would like to go ahead and volunteer please contact us. If you want to make a difference in someone's life when they need it most, being a hospice volunteer is where your heart is leading you.
