About this Opportunity
36 Million Adults in the U.S. can not read above a 3rd-grade level. We are looking for a few great people who can help. You don't need to speak another language or have prior experience in teaching - just a passion to help you community! Help other adults gain the basic literacy skills they need to succeed as workers, parents, and community citizens.
All of our free classes are currently being held on Zoom - so you can help from the comfort of your home.
We provide training and stay connected with you so you are never alone! Tutoring can be virtual or in-person!
It's hard to believe that:
- Over 36 million adults in the U.S. can't read, write, or do basic math over a 3rd-grade level.
- Low literacy costs the U.S. over $225 billion in non-productivity in the workforce, crime, and loss of tax revenue.
- Kids with low literate parents have a 72% chance of being at the lowest reading levels themselves - putting them at greater risk for poor grades and higher drop-out rates.
- 43% Of adults with the lowest levels live in poverty.
- 75% Of state prison inmates did not complete high school.
You can make a REAL difference in someone's life by dedicating about 2 hours a week to teaching them to read and write English.
