About this Opportunity
Mercer Island Thrift Shop (MITS) is seeking volunteers to become a regular part of their Cashier Team with a commitment of one shift per week. MITS is a nonprofit business that values a culture of community involvement, volunteer skill development, and reducing our community footprint on the planet through resale; the best form of recycling. As a bustling group of 80 volunteers, staff team and management team, they are proud to provide the major source of funding for the City of Mercer Island’s department of Youth & Family Services (MIYFS).
Shift opportunities are as follows: Sunday through Friday: - Sundays: 1:00 - 4:30 PM, 4:00 - 6:05 PM- Mondays: 10:30 - 1:00 PM, 1:00 - 4:00 PM- Tuesdays: 1:00 - 4:00 PM. 3:45 - 6:05 PM- Wednesdays: 9:45 - 1:00 PM, 12:30 - 3:30 PM, 1:00 - 4:00 PM- Thursdays: 9:45 - 1:00 PM, 3:30 - 6:05 PM- Fridays: 1:00 - 4:00 PM
We provide full training on a modern P.O.S. system and a cashier training handbook you get to keep. MITS is cash-less for ease and prevent loss to focus on rebuilding the business. You can use our online app to schedule your shifts and time away or we can manage your specified times for you. MITS is a fun, fast paced environment with a diverse work force from youth to seniors. Volunteer benefits include progressive discounts for the number of hours you work, job training, work references, volunteer recognition events, free coffee, tea, soda and a snack bar.
