About this Opportunity
The American Red Cross is calling on compassionate faith-based leaders to make a meaningful difference as Disaster Spiritual Care (DSC) Service Associates. In this impactful role, you'll provide crucial emotional and spiritual support to people affected by disasters. Whether on-site, virtual, or deployed to larger disaster operations, volunteers are needed to bring comfort and resilience when it’s needed most.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide spiritual and emotional support to individuals and families impacted by disaster.
- Help clients access and utilize their personal spiritual resources, values, and faith, regardless of any particular faith tradition.
- Partner with local faith-based organizations to offer enhanced support.
- Facilitate long-term recovery by connecting clients to local resources and community-based support.
Requirements:
- Must be a board-certified or professional chaplain or a recognized leader within a faith community or faith-based organization.
- Ability to provide spiritual support in an inclusive manner, respecting diverse faith traditions.
- Strong listening and interpersonal skills to provide compassionate care and connect clients with recovery resources.
Commitment: This is a flexible volunteer role with variable time commitments based on interest and disaster response needs.
