About this Opportunity
The Civil Grand Jury is an independent body that is convened on an annual basis by the Superior Court as a part of the judicial branch of government. It serves as the county’s civil watchdog agency and may examine all aspects of county and city government, special districts, and school districts. With broad access to public officials, employees, records, and information, the Civil Grand Jury is authorized to inspect and audit books, records, and financial expenditures to ensure accountability of public funds. The Grand Jury is also charged with inquiring into the condition of jails and juvenile detention facilities.Grand Jury service affords citizens the unique opportunity to give back to their community and contribute to the efficiency of local government by developing innovative recommendations for improving government operations. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, United States citizens, and residents of Santa Clara County.
