About this Opportunity
DCYFs Community Connection Program is seeking to recruit and train adult volunteers to serve as Mentors for youth in foster care, ages 14 and up.
Mentors help youth believe they can create a future they want. They model positive relationship skills and help their mentees strengthen communication skills. A mentor is an experienced, caring and trusted adult advisor who is willing to listen to our youth and guide them through challenges. In so doing, mentors can help reduce the risk factors that could lead to negative outcomes such as high school drop-out or substance abuse, thus strengthening our communities.
We want our youth in foster care to build meaningful adult connections and confidence in trusting others. So we ask mentors for a year-long commitment of 4 hours per month.
