About this Opportunity

RASKC seeks adult volunteers who are very committed to positive dog-training and skilled with a wide range of large, untrained, and very energetic dogs, especially pit bull terriers and mixes. An initial commitment of a once-a-week shift for about six months, about 50 hours (time off okay for vacations and so forth) is requested. Key to success with RASKC dogs is kindness and positive reinforcement.

Typically you would share a shift with one or two volunteers.

Volunteers harness the dogs and take them out for excercise. Or if it's super hot out, then some nice chill time under a shady tree.

Dog walkers are color-coded according to the type of dog they are eligible to walk.

. Green: Most Dog Walkers start as color "green" are eligible to work with our friendliest dogs.
. Blue: Dog Walkers who are assessed as "blue" are eligible to take out the shy dogs and the friendly dogs.
. Red: Dog Walkers who are identified as "red" are eligible to walk any of the adoptable dogs, including the ones that need skillful handling.

RASKC needs "blue" and "red" Dog Walkers at this time.
