About this Opportunity
Are you a compassionate professional looking to make a lasting impact, get involved in your community, and broaden your horizons? Community for Youth (CfY) is actively seeking mentors like you to join our transformative mentorship program. CfY inspires and supports our high school students to be their best selves through mentorship, learning experiences, and a powerful community.
At CfY, we believe in the power of connection and community. As a mentor, you'll not only act as a valuable resource for students, but also create a safe space where they can bring their best selves. CfY values student voice and choice, meeting students where they are and seeing them as capable, resilient, and powerful.
CfY offers two programs, to better fit the needs and schedules of our participants.
Learning Community
The traditional CfY Learning Community offers 1:1 mentorship, small group mentorship, and whole community mentorship. Learning Community participants commit to 2 hours of volunteering a week for the academic year (October - June), with flexibility as needed and communicated with Staff. Meetings typically occur on Tuesday evenings.
Mentors in the Learning Community will:
be paired 1:1 with a student and meet once a month
join a Family Group of 3-4 other mentoring pairs and meet once a month
attend whole Community Workshops once a month
attend Mentor training Workshops once a quarter
Duos
Our flexible Duos program focuses on the 1:1 relationship based upon your own schedules. Duos participants commit to meeting twice a month with their match from January - June.
We highly encourage new community members to consider enrolling in the traditional Learning Community program, to experience the power of community and explore different aspects and methods of mentorship.
Eligibility requirements:
Be at least 21 years of age
Reside in the greater Puget Sound region
Be willing to adhere to all Community for Youth program policies and procedures and follow the CfY Code of Conduct
Have never been accused, arrested, charged, or convicted of child abuse or molestation
Not use alcohol or controlled substances in an excessive or inappropriate manner
Not currently be in treatment for substance abuse. If a substance abuse problem has occurred in the past, the applicant must have completed a non-addictive period of at least five years
Be vaccinated against COVID-19 and follow CfY guidelines regarding masks and safety
Being a CFY mentor is rewarding, challenging, and fun! Youll not only provide critical support for an inquisitive, driven young person, but youll also build a strong network with fellow mentors.
Let's come together to build a community where students can thrive, explore their true selves, and unlock their full potential. Join us at Community for Youth and be the mentor who creates lasting change.
