About this Opportunity
The Trails Project Manager will lead the volunteer effort to complete an improvement and maintenance plan for the 2 miles of trails in the forest of Camp Long, bringing together the needed volunteers, materials, technical knowledge, and other resources to make on-the-ground improvements a reality. Part of the work of the Project Manger would be to recruit groups and individuals to volunteer to build and maintain the trails.
Specific duties:
- Serve as key contact person for the Trail Projects.
- Coordinate volunteer events and activities on Camp Longs trails.
- Coordinate with staff to interpret and implement trail plans.
- Help in finding donated materials for the trails.
- Complete annual report on activities.
Required qualifications:
- Ability to coordinate and lead at least 5 volunteer events per year.
- Technical knowledge and expertise in trail building.
- Ability to organize and manage diverse activities and set priorities; flexible under pressure.
- Ability to develop a positive working relationship with staff, volunteers, donors, and community supporters.
- Good organizational and computer skills, including keeping a list of volunteer contacts.
- Ability to work under physically demanding conditions, including cold and wet weather.
Desired qualifications:
- Experience coordinating volunteer events.
- Knowledge of native plants, Parks trail specifications.
- Experience working with or teaching youth, young adults and adult volunteers in an environmental education setting.
