About this Opportunity

The Trails Project Manager will lead the volunteer effort to complete an improvement and maintenance plan for the 2 miles of trails in the forest of Camp Long, bringing together the needed volunteers, materials, technical knowledge, and other resources to make on-the-ground improvements a reality. Part of the work of the Project Manger would be to recruit groups and individuals to volunteer to build and maintain the trails.

Specific duties:

  • Serve as key contact person for the Trail Projects.
  • Coordinate volunteer events and activities on Camp Longs trails.
  • Coordinate with staff to interpret and implement trail plans.
  • Help in finding donated materials for the trails.
  • Complete annual report on activities.

Required qualifications:

  • Ability to coordinate and lead at least 5 volunteer events per year.
  • Technical knowledge and expertise in trail building.
  • Ability to organize and manage diverse activities and set priorities; flexible under pressure.
  • Ability to develop a positive working relationship with staff, volunteers, donors, and community supporters.
  • Good organizational and computer skills, including keeping a list of volunteer contacts.
  • Ability to work under physically demanding conditions, including cold and wet weather.

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating volunteer events.
  • Knowledge of native plants, Parks trail specifications.
  • Experience working with or teaching youth, young adults and adult volunteers in an environmental education setting.
