About this Opportunity
Provide efficient and courteous service to our patients and customers and help maintain our two retail operations.TheGift shop is located in the Fred Hutch outpatient clinic. Shine gift shop is located on the 1st floor of the South Lake Union House (207 Pontius Avenue N.).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide excellent customer service for patients, families and staff who enter the gift shop.
- Assist with purchases as needed
- Receive incoming phone calls and determine appropriate action, provide all directions and information in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Process sales transactions.
- Assist with unpacking, tagging and stocking merchandise. Clean displays and restock inventory as needed.
- Make eye contact; greet every patient/visitor entering the gift shop (important theft deterrent function).
- Respect the privacy of patients and family members and abide by the confidentiality policies of the Volunteer Services Program.
- Masks are no longer required while in the clinic, but feel free to wear one if you would prefer it.
TIME COMMITMENT: A minimum volunteer commitment of three to six months is requested. Volunteer shifts at The Gift Shop are available Monday mornings and afternoons, Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday afternoons and Thursday mornings and afternoons. Volunteer shifts at Shine are available Monday through Saturday, morning and afternoon on weekdays, All day on Saturdays.
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Retail experience is preferred but not required. Experienced in using personal computers with Windows operating systems and searching for information on the Internet. Ability to bend, reach and lift items (while restocking, unpacking and displaying goods). Familiar with Emergency Response system (this will be provided in training). Ability to provide empathetic listening, warmth and compassion. Ability to be flexible and sensitive to the needs of patients, families, caregivers and staff. Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with fellow volunteers. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
