About this Opportunity
The purpose of the Board of Directors of the Hearing, Speech & Deaf Center (HSDC) is to act in consultation with senior management to determine priorities, policies and direction for the Center, and to exercise ultimate authority over all agency operations. The Board is not normally involved in any day-to-day activities of the agency, but rather serves as the oversight and governance entity of the agency.
Responsibilities of the Board of Directors:
- Define and monitor the vision, mission and values of the agency
- Exercise due diligence in the oversight of the agency and its operations
- Create policies and strategic direction designed to ensure the implementation of the agencys mission and its financial health
- Collectively hire and supervise the agencys Executive Director
- Monitor the fiscal health of the agency
- Select and support the Boards Officers
Responsibilities of Individual Directors:
- Accept, support and endorse the agencys mission
- Serve as an advocate/ambassador for the agency
- Learn about the agency, its programs, products and services
- Assist in fundraising activities that benefit HSDC
- Assist in identifying and recruiting additional Board members
- Serve as Officer of the Board if appropriate
- Adhere to the BYLAWS
