Exhibit Technician

The Central Wisconsin Children's Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Exhibit Technician to assist in the maintenance, installation, and upkeep of our interactive exhibits. As an Exhibit Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our exhibits are engaging, safe, and enjoyable for children and families. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in exhibit design, maintenance, and museum operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Exhibit Installation & Setup: Assist with the installation and setup of new exhibits and displays, ensuring they are safe, functional, and visually appealing.
• Maintenance & Repair: Perform regular checks on existing exhibits to identify and repair any malfunctions or wear and tear. Work with the Exhibit Coordinator to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Interactive Exhibit Support: Assist in the upkeep of interactive exhibits, ensuring all hands-on activities are working properly and are safe for use by children.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Exhibit Coordinator, museum staff, and volunteers to support special projects or temporary exhibitions.
• Visitor Engagement: Occasionally assist with visitor-related tasks, such as explaining exhibit functionality or helping young guests interact with exhibits, when necessary.
• Documentation: Assist in documenting any repairs, updates, or maintenance tasks completed for future reference.

Qualifications:

• Skills & Experience:
  • Interest in museum exhibits, education, and hands-on learning.
  • Basic knowledge of tools and repair techniques.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment or exhibit materials (up to 25 lbs). Comfort with standing, bending, and working in hands-on environments.
