Quilters & Sewers making Remembrance Quilt Squares

Whena member of our Knute Nelson/Walker Methodist community passes away, our team members joinfamily and friends in grieving the loss. Team members get to know and careabout each of our residents and patients. They carry the memories of residentstheyve known and enjoyed with them for the rest of their lives.

Wehave traditions to honor a community member when they pass away. First, as aperson leaves their Knute Nelson/Walker Methodist community for the last time, we wrap theirbody in a beautiful handmade quilt. We treat each person with the same care andrespect we showed them while they were alive. We also have a tradition ofgiving a handcrafted, single quilt square to the family of a departed resident.A quilt square can serve as amemento of a loved one. Holding it or carrying it in a pocket can remind us ofour loved one and the good times shared and can bring peace of mind andspirit.
