About this Opportunity
Volunteers are needed to support and empower individuals on the path to recovery. Recovery Specialist Volunteers will travel to hospitals in Camden City to provide advocacy, non-clinical assistance, and recovery support for individuals reversed from an opioid overdose. The Recovery Specialist will provide follow up for 8 weeks via phone call and some in-person meetings to guide survivors and ensure that recovery is possible. The volunteer will communicate with staff to assist the survivor in accessing resources needed to initiate and maintain recovery.
Volunteers will be on-call for at least one 12 hour shift each week (2 or more preferred). Available shifts are Thursday night through Monday morning. We ask that volunteers commit to at least one year of service.
Volunteers must have:
- Associate's Degree preferred. High School Diploma or equivalency required.
- Minimum of two years' experience in the guiding principles of recovery that assist individual to improve the health and wellness and live a self-directed life.
- Knowledge of community and statewide treatment and recovery options.
- Current driver's license with an excellent driving record of at least three years.
- Vehicle with current insurance and registration.
- Ability to travel to hospitals in Camden in 30 minutes or less.
- Comfort using technology, especially tablets and smartphones.
- Personal smartphone.
