About this Opportunity
At Ronald McDonald House Charities West Michigan, we are known for providing comfort and care to families traveling to Grand Rapids for their child's healthcare needs. We know that hospital life can be stressful, and therefore we've developed the RMHC Comfort & Care Hospitality Cart in partnership with Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. The Comfort & Care Cart brings these items of support directly to patients and caregivers at HDVCH, helping to make hospital life a little more comfortable.
Hospitality Cart volunteers are responsible for operating the cart, providing a warm welcome, and ensuring families and caregivers have access to the free items of comfort. Hospitality Cart Volunteers should be willing to commit to a weekly or biweekly shift for a minimum of 6 months. Volunteers will report to Volunteer Services at RMHC, with direct guidance from Hospital staff as needed.
Note that this role requires volunteers to visit RMHC to pick up items to restock the cart, then volunteer directly at HDVCH, then return to RMHC at the end of their shift. Due to this, volunteers must have the ability to lift 45 lbs., push, pull, and maneuver the Cart through the Hospital, and stand for multiple hours. Additionally, volunteers must have a valid Drivers License and reliable transportation to transfer inventory from RMHC to HDVCH.
