Volunteer Coaches

Volunteer Coaches needed forFall, Winter and Spring sports with the City of Gaithersburg. Coaches must be at least 18 years old and can participate in one or more seasons/sports.

Being a coach is the perfectway to give back to your community and inspire our youth. The City of Gaithersburg sports team is in search of enthusiastic, knowledgeable and dependable volunteer coaches to lead soccer, flag football, volleyball, track & field, and basketball teams. We provide pre-season training, equipment, and the program commitment is one practice per week for 9 weeks as well as one game per week for 7 weeks.

All volunteer coaches:

• Complete a background check (fingerprinting)
• Receive training and certification from the Positive Coaching Alliance (in person)
• Attend pre-season meeting/training with league supervisors to review division rules, expectations, etc. (may be in person or virtual)
• Prepare practice plans online resource materials are provided
• Manage parent communication about practice and game schedules
• Run 9 practices and 7 games total
• Total time commitment = approx. 30 hours over 10 weeks
