About this Opportunity
Help the KindWorks Summer Fun Stuff project reach the goal of creating and distributing 2,400 age appropriate, gender neutral sacks filled with new, enriching and creative items including books!
Your business or group can create a meaningful service project now through May 5th, benefitting thousands of local kids.We will guide you as to what goes into the sacks and you can decide the age group(s) on which youd like to focus. Project to be done at your location and delivered to us for distribution.
Stuff We Collect
- Writing and journaling tools: composition notebooks, journals, pens, pencils, and colored pencils
- Craft kits and art supplies, such as Play-Doh, Silly Putty, construction paper, magic markers, dot markers, Sharpies, crayons, glue sticks, pipe cleaners, puzzle books, child scissors, and coloring books (for children and adults)
- Jump ropes, hula hoops, frisbees, balls of all sizes, soccer balls, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and similar outdoor fun items
- Card games, playing cards, small box of Legos, jack and balls
- Harmonicas
- Books, graphic novels, and comic books for preschool through 12th grade reading levels (in new or mint condition)
- Drawstring sport backpacks, reusable water bottles, sunscreen, and insect spray
- Hygiene kit items, including small size shampoo, body wash, lotion, hand sanitizer, deodorant, first aid supplies, sunscreen, and bug spray
- Healthy packaged snacks

Please Note: This project is not for individual student volunteers but rather for groups or organizations.
*If you are seeking SSL hours, your group must have an MCPS staff member or nonprofit representative (who is not your parent/guardian or relative) supervise your service in a public space and verify your hours. Students may NOT earn SSL hours for running a collection drive on their own.
