About this Opportunity
Warrior Canine Connection is a non-profit organization which breeds, raises and trains dogs with the assistance of Veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), or mobility issues. These dogs are eventually placed as service dogs for Wounded Warriors, military family support dogs, or facility dogs for Veteran Organizations.
We are always looking for Canine Care Volunteers.OurCanine Care Volunteerslots are currently daily from 8am-10am, and 6-8pm. This volunteer position offers volunteers the opportunity to progress from our entry level Tier 1, where volunteers will be washing bowls, filling Kongs, and filling water buckets, up to Tier 2 where volunteers will have the opportunity to walk, bathe and do enrichment with our Service Dogs in Training.
To become a Canine Care Volunteer, you must be at least 16 years old, or 12 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian and attend a Canine Care Volunteer Orientation that takes place monthly in person at our Healing Quarters in Boyds, MD. This orientation is designed to familiarize you with our mission, and expectations and guidelines of our operations so you are equipped with the context and information in anticipation for your first shift. You will receive a reminder email from SignUp a few days prior of your assignment. After attending orientation, well send you a separate link to sign up for your first shift. You may sign up for as few or as many volunteer shifts as you like. Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the students parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
