About this Opportunity

The Mount Rogers National Recreation Area manages 11 campgrounds, 3 visitor centers, and several administrative buildings across 5 counties and 190,000 acres in southwest Virginia.

Volunteers are needed to assist our staff with the maintenance and repairs of these facilities.

The duties would include a wide variety of tasks depending on the time of year and unforeseen maintenance needs. Examples of work could include carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, mowing/trimming, cleaning, garbage collection, sign maintenance, and/or brushing removal.

Work can be assigned based on experience of the volunteer and any physical limitations. A minimum of a 2 month commitment is usually desired and housing may be available. All transportation, tools, and supplies would be provided each day and volunteers would normally work along with our staff.

Housing could consist of either a full hook up campsite for volunteers with their own RV or shared housing in a 3 bedroom/1 bath facility. If housing is provided, we request a minimum of 24 hours of work per week. For additional information please contact Viviana Ruiz, Volunteers & Service Program and Partnership Coordinator at [email protected] or (276 )783-5196 or 800-628-7202
