About this Opportunity
We are seeking a campground host for the Day Run Campground. The campground is located off Forest Road 216 in a remote section of Pocahontas County, West Virginia. Within close proximity to the Highland Scenic Highway, the Williams River flows through the campground making it a perfect getaway for fisherman, hikers, and nature lovers. This primitive campground contains 12 sites with no electric or water hookups, 2 unisex toilets, and 1 hand pump for potable water.
Duties include:
- Greet campers as they come into the campground, make them aware of your presence. Answer any questions about the area, and inform visitors of the campground rules.
- Clean restrooms and vacated campsites daily: this includes removing ashes from fire rings, removing litter, raking gravel, and wiping down picnic tables.
- Report any accidents or incidents to Ranger on duty.
- Inform campers of wildlife such as black bears so they properly store food and dispose of trash.
On scheduled days of service, Host is to clean the 2 restrooms once a day. Clean campsites as campers vacate. After all sites and your restrooms are clean, you are free to enjoy the day, though you should be available to campers to answer questions.
Camp hosts must supply their own self-contained camping unit such as an RV, pull-behind trailer, or fifth-wheel trailer. No electric or water hook ups are available
A reimbursement for allowable expenses may be provided.
To apply for a Camp Host position on the Monongahela National Forest, please fill out a volunteer application. We will request at least three references. Please note we conduct background checks on all applicants.
